Untraceable/Uninsured Drivers

If you are unfortunate enough to suffer an injury in a car accident then we are here to help you get back on the road. We can help you claim compensation for your injuries by offering a 100% Compensation - No Win No Fee service, meaning that you receive 100% of your compensation and pay absolutely nothing to claim.

Have you been hit by an uninsured driver?

After an accident it is important to collect details from the other driver or drivers and there's a chance you might find that the driver is not insured. It is said that 1 in 10 drivers are uninsured, so the odds of having a car accident with an uninsured driver are higher than you might expect. You can claim injury compensation against an uninsured driver but it can be more complicated. It doesn't have to be though, as we can help you with a compensation claim like this with help from the Motor Insurers Bureau. In some cases it might be that the driver is untraceable, as in a hit and run case.

Motor Insurers Bureau

The MIB (Motor Insurers Bureau) aims to compensate the victims of negligent untraceable and uninsured drivers. MIB was set up in 1946 and it's role is to enter into agreements with the Government. It is a central fund to provide a means of compensating the victims of car accidents which were caused by uninsured or untraced drivers.

The MIB operate under two schemes to cover compensation from untraced and uninsured drivers.

  • Untraced Drivers' Agreement which includes hit and run accidents where the driver is unknown
  • Uninsured Drivers' Agreement which includes accidents with drivers that have no valid insurance

Untraced agreement - England, Scotland & Wales, February 2003

Uninsured agreement - England, Scotland & Wales, August 1999

Who pays for Motor Insurers Bureau?

The Motor Insurers Bureau gets it's funding from their members, the insurance companies. Insurance companies then pass this cost through to insurance premiums, so ultimately it is the law abiding motorists who are paying for claims against uninsured and untraced drivers.
